The JSA was formed with the mission to

register and certify Shotokan Dojos that teach,

preserve and advance the legacy of traditional

and modern Shotokan. The JSA does not

charge any application or registration fees.

Dojos seeking certification will be visited by a

JSA Shihan and must pass stringent testing. All

sensei must have a minimum registered rank

of Sandan. The JSA has a certification

acceptance rate of 5%.

FSKA is a global Karate organization founded

by Kancho Funakoshi. They pride themselves

on being non-political, maintaining a strict

adherence to the traditional budo teachings

and the traditional lineage of Shotokan Karate

established by Supreme Master Ginchin

Funakoshi.

Founded by Master Hidetaka Nishiyama, a

direct student of Shotokan's creator, Gichin

Funakoshi. Nishiyama brought traditional

Shotokan to the U.S. in the 1960s and

established the ITKF in 1986. It certifies dojos

who preserve the teaching of deep, low

stances, explosive full-body hip rotation and

powerful, long-range linear strikes and kicks.
